The painters stone
Used as a beautiful blue pigment in historical works of art, azurite is a masterpiece
Look at any important blue pigment in European painting from the Middle Ages and Renaissance, and there’s a good chance you’re looking at an azurite gemstone. This beautiful stone was finely ground and turned into a powerful pigment, ready to provide some famously intense blues, such as the background to “The Martyrdom of Saint Lawrence” by Pacino di Bonaguida.
We’ve been able to take azurite and create a different work of art. The Painters Stone Ring features a 12-carat azurite gemstone, displaying vital veins of the famous blue pigment mixed with some lighter tones. We’ve set this azurite stone in a gold-finished .925 sterling silver ring, which makes a perfect frame for this most creative of gemstones.
If you know someone with an artistic streak, we think this Painters Stone Ring will provide some powerful inspiration.
