Born into poverty and rising to superstardom, our favorite jazz singer lived life on her own terms and wasn’t intimidated by anyone. She sang with the best in the business and was known for wearing white gardenias in her hair. Her voice was light and melodic, floating above the music in a way that many have tried to copy, but none have matched.
