After a short bout of seasickness, we arrived at the island’s cliffs and anchored the boat. At Marco’s insistence, we scaled the rock face and entered one of the caves. Perhaps I was just overwhelmed by the beauty of the marble against the azure ocean below, but I lost my footing and fell down a 20-foot slope into one of the cave’s antechambers. Marco rescued me with some line from the boat, but only after giving me a piece of advice: get better shoes.
