From the Holy Land and a Holy Time —Discovered amidst the ancient sands of Israel lies a treasure as old as the empire itself: bright blue Roman glass, opalized with age. Dating back to the reign of the Caesars and the time and place when Jesus preached, this remarkable archaeological find unveils a window into the opulence of antiquity and the era of profound historical significance.
Now, after centuries buried beneath the earth’s embrace, they emerge as stunning relics of a bygone era. The vibrant blue hues, come about because the glass was buried for 2000 years in clay, creating an amazingly colorful chemical reaction called photonic crystallization.
