We were out of water, out of time and nearly out of gas. Competing in an international racing rally across the Arabian Peninsula some years back, my friend Ali and I were lost. It may shock you, but the Arabian Desert isn’t exactly the kind of place where you can stop at a gas station and ask for directions. My map was useless, and Ali was certain we’d begun driving around in circles.
Then Ali spotted a landmark that would become our salvation: a graveyard of camel bones. Soon, we were back on track. After completing the race, I went back to that graveyard to collect a bone as a souvenir.
What did I do with this strange keepsake? I turned it into the Desert Devil Knife, a remarkable piece of cutlery that’s sure to stand out in any man’s collection. With it’s uniquely shaped handle of camel bone and brass and a blade of Damascus steel, this 8 ¼" folding knife has a stick tang construction and comes with its own leather sheath. While we didn’t win the race, we did come back with our lives. Thanks to the Desert Devil Knife, we both made it home. – Jack B.
