Peridot’s history goes way back — 4.5 billion years back, to be precise.
Considered one of the oldest precious gems, peridot crystals have been discovered on meteorites, remnants of our solar system’s birth. Still others form in the molten rock of Earth’s upper mantle, getting pushed to the surface during earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
These are the crystals that were first discovered around 1500 B.C., when Egyptian miners hunted for the gem all day and into the night, as the stone’s warm green glow allowed them to locate it even in darkness. This led them to dub peridot the “gem of the sun,” a fitting name for a stone as old as the sun itself.
All of this is to say that for a gemstone older than time, Stauer’s own history with the verdant beauty might seem like a drop in the bucket. Nonetheless we’re pleased to announce that we have never in our 20-year history been able to offer a price this low on peridot — until now.
Gem-quality peridot is actually quite rare. But making the rare attainable is what we do best, so we bought up huge amounts of peridot in order to offer you the lowest price imaginable! This is a historic deal, so don’t miss your chance to own a Gem for the Ages.
