I went for a trip to the Netherlands to see some relatives and was thrilled to get to see one of the most iconic paintings in history. At the Mauritshuis museum, Girl with a Pearl Earring is an oil painting by Dutch Golden Age painter Johannes Vermeer, dated c. 1665. Going by various names over the centuries, it became known by its present title towards the end of the 20th century after the baroque pearl earring worn by the girl portrayed. The characteristics of Dutch Golden Age art is often likened to the general European period of Baroque painting, which is most associated with grandeur, richness, drama, movement, and tension. Baroque pearls were highly prized by Renaissance and Baroque jewelers, who saw them not as misshapen products of sea mollusks but rather as unique and exquisite natural forms. The 10mm baroque pearl companion and the girl’s eyes in the painting attracted everyone’s sight. We are thrilled to let you become the Girl With the Pearl Bracelet. We have made an extraordinary purchase of magnificent Baroque pearls and crafter them into jewelry using accents of European crystals such was used by Dutch jewelers in the day. Oh, and by the way, our price will leave you enough left over to go on your own art tour.
