During the Age of Discovery, bold, ambitious men sailed the seven seas in search of new lands that they could claim as their own. In this dangerous era of exploration, Europeans sought to conquer the globe — and enrich themselves in the process.
And between 1497 and 1504, under the flags of Spain and Portugal, Amerigo Vespucci set sail to determine whether the lands discovered by Christopher Columbus were part of Asia or something new. The Florentine explorer published two booklets recounting his adventures that were extremely popular and led cartographer Martin Waldseemüller to apply the word “America” to a map of the New World in his honor. It was the first time the term was ever used.
In honor of this momentous piece of history, we’ve crafted the Italian Explorer Ring. Made in Italy, this signet-style ring features a galleon ship at full sail, on the search for parts unknown.
