My friend Marvin is a bit of an odd duck. He largely keeps to himself, filling his days by adding to his massive toy train, baseball card, rock and stamp collections. It’s verging on becoming a real problem.
If it weren’t for his exceptional watch collection, I don’t know if we’d be friends. He’s got rare French chronographs from a century ago, tourbillion pocket watches and radium-dialed timepieces that have unique imprints burned onto their faces.
On my latest visit to his horologic menagerie, I was struck by one of his latest finds: a handsome watch that hails from London in the 1930s. I had to have it, but Marvin, mega collector that he is, wasn’t selling. So, I made my own.
The 1930s Knightsbridge Watch features a classic ceramic face complemented by blue metallic hands and Roman numerals. Surrounded by a yellow gold finish and attached by a unique pair of lugs to the strap, the Knightsbridge is sure to look dashing on any man’s arm. Outfitted with an updated precision movement, I dare to say that my watch is better than Marvin’s; it certainly has a lower price tag.
