Magical blown glass ornaments are of German origins. However, the Italians have been creating the most beautiful glass treasures on Earth far longer.
The artisans in Italy have been cooking up timelessly beautiful pieces since the year 1291. The Germans have only been at it since 1597. And, while remarkable ornaments come out of the Thuringian Forest in Lauscha, Germany, the creations from Italy come from beautiful, romantic Venice.
The techniques and tools used by today’s Murano master artisan glassmakers haven’t changed much since the Middle Ages. These beautiful drop ornaments are created by a master Murano artisan showcasing the traditional blown glass method where the artisan blows very thin and airy forms that are delicately shaped, using only a few simple iron tools.
Also featured on this beautiful ornament is the “millefiori” technique with “tiny floral”designs accenting the glass. Adding even more enchantment are touches of shimmering gold.
These pieces of art are perfect for bringing some magic to the holidays.
