I didn't grow up to be as rugged as I'd hoped. When you're raised on a strict diet of Davy Crockett and The Lone Ranger, it's hard to imagine not becoming a frontier fighting machine who can wrestle a 'bar' with just his hands. But even if I didn't end up in a cabin, or riding my horse across the plains, one lesson stuck with me: the most important thing you can carry out in the wild is a good solid knife.
