Da Vinci’s Drawmation is based on Leonardo’s Robot Knight, built around 1495, and is considered to be history’s first robot. The Robot Knight could perform many actions, such as shaking hands, playing the drums and could even hug an amused guest. But it was also rumored that the had another special skill… it could draw pictures.
Beautifully designed from only wood and a few pieces of metal, this stunning piece of early technology is sure to be a conversation starter. Once assembled, Put any drawing tool into the Robot's hand, place a piece of paper into the draw area, slowly turn the small gear knob and viola, the Robot draws a single line picture. Drawmation is able to draw four different artistic patterns by switching corresponding gear disks. The interlocking mechanisms are truly ingenious.
No glue or tools are required–– just time, patience, and a love of ingenuity. A wonderful project to do with with family and friends, that also makes a unique and beautiful addition to your home. Assembled size is 15 3/4” x 11 3/4” x 3 1/4”. Ages 14 and up.
