Alexandrite is a gem cloaked in mystique. Since its discovery in 1834 it’s held a captive audience for its unusual trait of changing color. The mythical stone appears green in the daylight and turns a purple hue when exposed to incandes-cent light. The extreme scarcity of this gem combined with its changing powers makes it one of the most coveted stones in the jewelry world.
In terms of rarity, alexandrite may well outrank nearly all other known gem-stones. Natural alexandrite is rarer than diamonds and more costly than emer-ald, ruby, and sapphire. Top-quality natural alexandrite can cost more than $30,000 per carat!
We were intrigued and so we sought out and secured two amazing pieces blooming with alexandrite gems. To heighten an already awe-evoking show we added the sparkle of white diamonds. The perfect backdrop? 14K yellow gold.
Still not a believer? It is said alexandrite aids in situations of the heart where logic offers no answers–– making this jewelry well suited for another of life’s mysteries: women.
